ENDURANCE Kick-Off Meeting
October 3-4, 2024

The ENDURANCE Project has been officially launched as a major research initiative funded by the Euratom Research and Training Programme. The kick-off event, held on October 3–4 and hosted by Politecnico di Milano, marked the beginning of a collaborative effort aimed at advancing the safe operation and technological development of Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs) in Europe.
This milestone event brought together a distinguished network of experts and researchers from across universities, research institutions, industry, startups, and technical safety organizations. Over the next four years, the ENDURANCE consortium will work collectively to push the frontiers of innovation and safety in MSR technology.
The kick-off event was a dynamic start to the ENDURANCE Project, bringing together partners, speakers, and contributors, whose engagement, expertise, and collaboration lay a strong foundation for achieving the project’s goals.
The ENDURANCE Project aims to enhance the maturity of critical elements necessary for the industrial deployment of MSRs, focusing on fuel salt chemistry, experimental testing on reactor safety phenomena, modelling capability for safety assessment, fuel cycle sustainability and future adaptability of reactors in a decarbonised energy context.
In addition, the project places strong emphasis on training and empowering early-career researchers and students, preparing the next generation of leaders in nuclear science and technology.
